About Us

Our Mission & Vision

To improve the trajectory of Latino families in the Silicon Valley region by increasing the number of Latino professionals pursuing successful STEM careers.

Our vision extends beyond education – it’s about opening doors to high-demand, high-paying jobs in STEM, ensuring Latinos shape the future of Silicon Valley.

Rooted in Community Philanthropy

Founded in 1989, the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley (HFSV) is dedicated to improving the trajectory of Latino families in the Silicon Valley region by increasing the number of Latino professionals pursuing successful STEM careers. Through collaboration with corporate, education, and other nonprofit partners, we offer STEM programming that helps students of all ages and young STEM professionals thrive in these competitive fields. Together, we build a stronger, more innovative Silicon Valley by unlocking the full potential of Latino talent.

Our History

Our work began with the first Hispanic Foundation Ball in 1990. This annual gala started as a celebration of Hispanic philanthropy, raising awareness of issues impacting the Latino community, and honoring change-making volunteerism. Almost four decades later, we have continued this tradition and expanded our support by focusing our work on STEM education and careers.

To broaden our reach, we provide innovative programs for K-12 families, community college and university students, and early-career professionals. We inspire the younger generation to explore STEM, assist college students to excel in school, and equip young professionals with the tools to accelerate their careers.

1990-2000

Since its inception, the annual gala has been a joyous and important event for the Hispanic community of Silicon Valley—a galvanizing moment to gather and celebrate successes. It has also been a crucial source of organizational funding.
