Carlos has 20+ years of executive healthcare finance, strategy, and managed care experience.
Carlos joined El Camino Health as Chief Financial Officer in 2020. Carlos has led the implementation of several revenue enhancement and expense management initiatives which have helped mitigate the impact of the various Covid waves. Before El Camino Health, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Palomar Health in San Diego, CA, where he developed and successfully implemented a financial turnaround plan.
Prior to joining Palomar Health, Carlos held senior leadership consulting positions at GE Healthcare, Kaufman Hall & Associates, and Ernst & Young. During his 15+ years in management consulting, he advised 300+ hospitals/health systems across the country in financial / capital planning, M&A transactions, financial turnarounds, managed care negotiations, and tax-exempt debt transactions.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from UCLA and holds a Master’s in Health Administration from USC. He completed an Advance Finance / Leadership program from The Wharton School of Business and Executive Education at Harvard Business School in Value Measurement in Healthcare.
