I want to show everyone in El Salvador and the US a Latina can work in tech

The Latinx Scholar Chat is an interview series with our 399 Latinos in Technology Scholarship Recipients, and the President and CEO of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, Ron Gonzales. The interview series gives you a glimpse into our scholars’ lives, unveils their aspirations, and their college journey, one conversation at a time.

In this video, we welcome Gricelda Tecun, a 2020 scholarship recipient currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at San Jose State University with just months away from graduating. When she came to the U.S, Gricelda had to enroll in San Mateo Adult School and San Mateo Community College to learn English and be qualified as a college student. As she sets her sights on obtaining a job at a high-tech company in Silicon Valley, she is paving the way for Salvadorians and Latinas pursuing a career in STEM.

As we continue to navigate through the pandemic, hearing from inspirational scholars like Gricelda energizes the Hispanic Foundation to continue to do more for our Latinx community in Silicon Valley. You don’t want to miss out on this conversation between Gricelda Tecun and Ron Gonzales.

Great news! The Latinos in Technology Scholarship application deadline has been extended to Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Be sure to share! View application now.
