Scholar and Facilitator for Girls Who Code

In this Latinx Scholar Chat, we welcome Emily Samperio a 2020 Latinos in Technology Scholarship Recipient scholar majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology at San Francisco State University. In her pursuit of obtaining a bachelor’s degree, Emily also finds the time to volunteer as a Girls Who Code facilitator on behalf of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley.

“I want young girls to see me as an example because I never had any role models, and I want to reassure them they are capable and can accomplish so much more!”

Emily Samperio

As Emily continues to lead by example, she shares with us her challenges as she navigated the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Latina scholars like Emily exemplify the grit, resilience, and will of our Latinx community in Silicon Valley. Interested in getting to know more scholars just like Emily?
