Without a doubt 2020 has been the year of struggle, adaptability, and gratitude. With sheltering in place, working from home, and pivoting to online programs, the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley (HFSV) put its best foot forward and rose to the challenge. Now, as we are a few days away from the end of 2020, we would like to announce a few developments for 2021.
For the past three years, our Director of Programs, Lisa Anna Dominguez, has exceeded our expectations in improving the quality of life for many Latinx students and parents in Silicon Valley. When Lisa first started at our organization, she was program manager. She was quickly promoted to Director of Programs, where she led strategic events and initiatives to better serve the Latinx community in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. One of Lisa’s exceptional contributions was her idea for a Latinas in STEM webinar where Latina hi-tech leaders shared their perspective and insights with an audience of 130 online attendees.
Ron Gonzales, President and CEO, shared the following about working with Lisa: “You are fun to work with! People around you really enjoy your company, teamwork, and can-do attitude.”
With this in mind, we’d like to announce Lisa’s departure from HFSV. We are excited for Lisa’s future endeavors, and appreciate her many contributions to our Foundation’s work.
Additionally, We are pleased to announce the promotion of Melissa Canela, who joined the HFSV back in February of 2020, to Education Programs Manager. Melissa continues to exceed expectations, especially during this unpredictable time we are all experiencing. We look forward to her contributions moving forward.
This news also means that we are hiring! To learn more about our open Program Associate position, click here.
As 2020 marks a year of gratitude and new beginnings, we look forward to finishing the year strong and beginning 2021 with a renewed sense of energy in improving the quality of life of Latinos in Silicon Valley.
