Stephanie Hernandez Roman is the Education Programs Coordinator. She supports program implementation, partnership development, data management, and outreach for education initiatives. Stephanie grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Social Welfare and minors in Public Policy and Chicano/Latino Studies. While at Berkeley, she worked as a writing tutor at the Student Learning Center, helping students with their writing assignments and giving presentations on tutoring strategies to build rapport.
Stephanie previously interned at the San Mateo Small Business Development Center (SBDC), where she managed a weekly newsletter sharing resources on trainings, grants, and partner updates. She also developed and implemented a social media strategy to promote the Black Business Summit, increasing engagement and visibility. Additionally, Stephanie conducted outreach to clients to support data collection for the center’s annual economic impact survey, improving response rates and program tracking.
Before that, Stephanie interned at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Northern California as a Development Intern, where she created the development team’s first newsletter, researched prospective donors, and assisted with event logistics. She also gained valuable experience with the Energy Foundation’s Northeast team, supporting event coordination, grantee communication, and partner interviews.
Stephanie is aware of the challenges Latinos face in accessing STEM opportunities. She is aligned with the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley’s commitment to supporting Latinos in STEM and shares their belief in mentorship and community programs as powerful tools for transformation.
