Sisterhood and STEM: A Look into Silicon Valley’s Future Coders

This past month, we welcomed over 27 middle school students into our Girls Who Code (GWC) Clubs in Santa Clara County.

In the 8-week clubs, students from Renaissance Academy, KIPP Heartwood, and KIPP Prize will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of coding
  • Explore STEM Careers guided by our fantastic facilitators
  • Develop teamwork, time management, and more

Our Clubs facilitators play an essential role in empowering and promoting sisterhood among participants, helping us shape Silicon Valley’s STEM future. We are happy to share that this quarter, we welcomed three first-time facilitators: Neha, a Computer Science major graduate; Michelle, a double major in Math and Physics graduate; and Jasmine, currently studying a Computer Science major and a Tech Business Management and Economics minor at UCSC.

We look forward to our facilitators’ support this Winter and can’t wait to see the students grow and the clubs’ impact on their educational journey.
