Our Foundation proudly collaborated with several organizations to offer enriching programs empowering Latino students and families over the summer, planting The Seed of curiosity and confidence in STEM through early engagement and parent-supported learning. These efforts included:
K–5 | Parent Engagement: Building Foundations Early
- Our partnership with Everyone On bridged the digital divide and encouraged parent participation in their children’s education. It equipped parents in Santa Clara County with essential computer skills and safe internet practices, enabling them to support their children’s education and professional growth.
- In collaboration with PIQE, over 80 parents across the Latino College Preparatory Academy, Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy, and Luis Valdez Leadership Academy participated in our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program. Parents gained tools to support their children’s emotional well-being and academic success, fostering stronger school-home connections that benefit learners from early grades.
- Through our collaboration with Springboard Collaborative, nearly 450 Alum Rock Union School District students boosted reading proficiency, while families received take-home strategies to support literacy growth.
6–8 | Academic Readiness: Strengthening Core Skills
- For middle school students, we partnered with Silicon Valley Education Foundation to offer two programs: Elevate Math and Computer Science Institute. Both reached over 700 students across Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, strengthening their math and coding skills and equipping families with resources to understand the importance of Common Core Mathematics. Together, these programs helped students develop confidence and skills in a critical developmental stage.
9–12 | College Readiness & Transition: Empowering Futures
- At the high school level, we prepared students through the Quetzal Mama College Essay Writing Bootcamp. Dr. Ocampo led students to develop compelling college essays shaped by real admissions insights. The program empowered students to connect their narratives to academic goals, giving them a competitive edge, particularly in highly selective STEM programs. This work supported our broader goal of ensuring all students are equipped to navigate the college application process and transition confidently into the next chapter of their academic journey.
Together, these efforts reflect our continued drive to empower Latino students and families, expand access to STEM opportunities, and nurture early curiosity through our K–12 (Seed) work. To learn more about our K-12 programs, please email Mirella at mirella@hfsv.org.
