The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley grew out of a special event, the Hispanic Foundation Ball, which raises awareness about issues affecting the Latino community, promotes volunteerism, celebrates philanthropic leaders, and provides the funding vehicle to support the Foundation’s work to improve the quality of life for Silicon Valley Latinos.
This year due to COVID-19 we won’t be able to gather at the Fairmont San Jose Ballroom for the first time in 30 years. But we are still planning to celebrate the spirit of the Ball: the successes of the Hispanic community in Silicon Valley, and the success of our programs with a virtual event on October 17th. The Ball is not just a party! Funds raised at the Ball support our three initiatives:
- Provide STEM and college pathways related classes to close to 1,500 families annually.
- Give college scholarships to close to 100 juniors and seniors per year.
- Train over 60 Latino professionals annually on what it takes to be on the Board of a nonprofit organization.
