Honor Educator Jaime Escalante-
Help a Latino Student

On March 30, 2010 the Latino community and our nation lost a great educator, Jaime Escalante. He became America’s most famous teacher after he was the subject of the 1988 film “Stand and Deliver”.

Actor James Olmos, who portrayed Jaime Escalante said, “Jaime didn’t just teach math. Like all great teachers, he changed lives.”

In honor of Jaime Escalante’s dedication to education we want to encourage you to change the lives of Latino students. The #1 objective of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley is to close the Latino student achievement gap in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

We have solicited local community education programs who are helping Latino students achieve their potential to prepare for future Silicon Valley careers. They all need your personal involvement and support. Below is a list of potential opportunities where you can volunteer your time as a tutor, mentor, role model, etc.

Please volunteer and help change a student’s life and the future of Silicon Valley.
