Zoomz: A Community for 1st Generation College Students to relate, interact, and learn.

What is Zoomz?

Zoomz.net is a social network for high school and college students who are the first in their families to go to college. We help students get the information, insight, and encouragement they need to reach and succeed in college.

Why Zoomz?

In California, the ratio of college counselors to high school students is nearly 1 to 1000, the second lowest in the country, according to the California Department of Education. Most high school students don’t get the guidance they need to get to college, and students who will be the first in their families face additional obstacles.

Members of Zoomz connect with their peers, as well as students like them who have been to college, to encourage and support a college-going culture.

Since launching Zoomz.net in August 2009, almost 800 members have joined to relate to peers and College Mentors, interact with other first generation college students, and learn about getting to and succeeding in college.

Zoomz.net is a part of ALearn, a non-profit organization that targets the transitions students face throughout their education.
