The Hispanic College Fund Announces 2012-2013
HACEMOS Scholarship Program
Application deadline March 1, 2012
WASHINGTON (Jan. 9, 2012) – The Hispanic College Fund (HCF) is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 HACEMOS scholarship program until March 1, 2012 at www.hispanicfund.org/CCI. Scholarships will be based on both need and merit, and awards will range from $500 - $2,000. In addition, scholars will be enrolled into HCF’s
College and Career Institute where they will receive financial, social and career support.
“HACEMOS has been a proud part of our communities since our inception in 1988. Throughout our history, we’ve supported programs that engage people and enrich lives,” said Delia Hernandez, President, HACEMOS, AT&T’s Hispanic/Latino employee resource group. “These scholarships help bring our communities one step closer to HCF’s goal of developing the next generation of Latino professionals.”
“We are excited about offering students more opportunities to complete their college education through our partnership with the HACEMOS scholarship program,” said Carlos Santiago, Ph.D., HCF’s chief executive officer. “The students will not only receive a scholarship, but year-round professional development and staff support to help them graduate on time and prepare for the 21st century workforce.”
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of Hispanic background, or, have graduated from a high school in the U.S. after attending at least three years
- Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the 2012-2013 academic year at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average
- Maintain a permanent residence in, or attend school in, a HACEMOS chapter
area - Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need
Each scholarship recipient is enrolled in the College and Career Institute, HCF’s scholar retention and workforce development program. The College and Career Institute serves
as a one stop resource center that provides college students with financial, social and career support that will reinforce on-time graduation, and ultimately lead to a cohort of successful Hispanic professionals. During the course of the academic year, scholarship recipients will participate in professional development webinars and receive periodic advisory phone calls.
