Since 2007 the HFSV has worked in partnership with The Health Trust (THT) to address the issue of childhood obesity in the Latino community through our Healthy Families Fund. In the future we will work on building awareness about healthy aging in the Latino community and promoting quality elder care and support for caregivers.

Latino families have a deep connection to their elders. Caring for our aging family members in-home is a strong tradition in the Latino family. As such, there is a great need to care for family caregivers, both with professional training and through professional services that are available to them and/or their loved ones. Studies show that not only do Latinos represent a large portion of caregivers, but that shifting demographics will create a larger need for support services for the elderly and their family caregivers. The Hispanic Foundation is deeply-rooted in Silicon Valley’s Latino community and has a long-history of making culturally-competent strategic philanthropy that invests in the well-being of the whole family.
