2012 La Familia Award Call for Nominations
Each year the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley recognizes one special Latino family with the La Familia Award for their exemplary service to the community. The selected family is honored at the Foundation’s annual gala event, the Hispanic Charity Ball.
The 23rd annual Hispanic Charity Ball will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel. They will also be recognized in local media and celebrated by the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley all year long!
The first Hispanic Charity Ball was held in 1990 to raise awareness about the issues affecting the Latino community, to promote volunteerism, celebrate philanthropic leaders, and to provide a vehicle to support nonprofit organizations serving the Hispanic community with cash grants.

*Deadline to submit your nomination is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012. Nominations received after the deadline will not be considered by our La Familia Committee.
2011 La Familia Award Winners – The Zazueta Family
The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley is proud to announce that the Zazueta Family of San Jose are this year’s recipients of 2011 La Familia Award.
La Familia Zazueta have a long standing history of civic duty and community pride instilled by Fernando and his wife Cecily. Together, and by their example, they have passed on their sense of compassion and dedication to volunteerism to their children Tomás (Tom) Zazueta, Antonia Charles, M.D. and Daniel Zazueta.
The limitation of describing volunteer activities to just within the past three years would not give a correct assessment of this family's civic activism. Volunteer activities for each family member have shown consistent demonstration of voluntarily working within and for our Hispanic and general community. It goes without saying all assumed such roles are shown completely on their own initiative, demonstrating muliti-generational volunteerism which is the bedrock of the cultural values of this family. Congratulations to the Zazueta Family!
The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley is proud of its La Familia Award legacy. The Silicon Valley is a better place for Hispanic children and families thanks to the heartfelt dedication of these families.
